On behalf of my children and myself I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional service you provided during my husband’s funeral today. Your dedication, professionalism and reverence were truly inspiring and deeply appreciated.
It made my children so proud to see their father honored for his service to our country.
My family and friends who witnessed your tribute were also blown away by your whole dedication.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You truly are a patriot. May God continue to bless you and your team.

I was so proud and honored to be at Maurice’s Military send off. So proud of Maurice for being such a dedicated American. To serve that many years in the Military, you know he’s a very good man. Thank you Maurice!. I was happy and honored to serve you and your wife Ginny. Now you’re together once more. Peace to you both. Love from the heart.

6/11/24 Memorial Service for Lt Col Maurice J. Roesch
The ceremony provided by The Last Salute for my father, Lt Col Maurice J. Roesch, was a most honorable send off for his dedication of military service which spanned from 1948-1990. My father was so proud of serving his country. The profound and dignified ceremony including the sounding of two cannons, a rifle salute, tolling of the Memorial bell, the folding of the American flag & presentation, the rendition of Taps, and the inclusion of my father’s prayer card into the Memorial Prayer Box truly was the ultimate thank-you to dad’s 42 years of service to the USA. I’m sure he was saluting all the volunteers of Last Salute
from above. Many thanks to Sgt at Arms Chuck Knutson and his wife for their passionate dedication to honoring military servicemen who have passed. The ceremony was uplifting to all in attendance, especially the family members.

Carol, that would have been something different. The Last Salute prayer which is engraved on top of the Prayer Box and read at each funeral was written by Charles “Chuck” Knutson and copyrighted in August of 2016.

To Whom It May Concern:
Your organization went over and beyond my expectations for the honor and respect that was shown for my husband, Mark O’Rourke, on April 8, 2024. Mark was very proud to have served as a US Marine in the Vietnam War even though he didn’t like to talk about it too much. He served as a “gunny” on a medevac helicopter, so he experienced much action. He kept a lot of those memories close to his heart.
It was a very moving and emotional experience felt by all with all the professionalism and protocol. I am sure that Mark is looking down and smiling.
God Bless your organization and best wishes for long and successful future programs.
With much appreciation.
Sincerely,
Eileen O’Rourke and Family

This was such a beautiful tribute to our fathers life. Melville Lundin, he was a proud patriot, served in Army & NYCFD. From beginning, to end, the reverence shown from the “Last Salutes” veterans, toward their fellow veteran, being laid to rest….was such a beautiful thing to witness.
And this was pretty short notice….. they made this happen within a 3 day window. Every detail, from Taps beautifully played ( his only request & he got so much more! ) , the cannon blast, his funeral card being put in the prayer box, folding of our flag , was done with such dignity & utmost respect. Really can’t put into words…. The folding of our flag, bought up such deep emotions, done with such dignity & care to every detail. Raising it up toward Heaven….. and the presentation to my niece, was a deeply profound moment, for us all. I’m sure she will have such a beautiful testimony & memory of this day, to be able to pass down to her children.
My family’s utmost gratitude & respect for founder , Sgt Chuck Knutson & his wife, Cpl Jamie Lee Knutson . And anyone involved that I don’t have their name….huge thank you to all that honored my dad’s celebration of life.
May God bless you & your ministry. This was above and beyond anything I could have imagined. My dad would be super happy & honored & proud, how this came to be, he loved our country , so very much.
My families deepest gratitude, for what you do for your fellow veterans.
Thank you

This service went beyond expectations. My family and friends had never experienced a service like this and it stirred emotions and understanding for honoring people that have served their country . My husband served in Vietnam as a Marine and then returning home became a New Jersey State Trooper. Service for his country while in the military and later as public servant meant a great deal to him. The Last Salute made this service inclusive with presence from the Marines and the State Police Honor Funeral Guard. My heartfelt gratitude to all those that attended and to these two organizations that honored my husband with their presence.

Words cannot describe how touching your ceremony was at the conclusion of my dad’s funeral. It was solemn, respectful, and honored my dad’s service to this country. He was very proud of his time in the Air Force, loved his country, and viewed his time in the service as duty to his country. The playing of taps, the canon blast, the box ceremony, the final salute, and the folding of the flag left everyone in tears and proud to be an American. Thank you for honoring my dad and more importantly, thank you for your service to our beautiful country. As my dad would say, God Bless you!

The Last Salute provided my husband, James Harlan Sr. with a very beautiful, patriotic and honorable program at his funeral in December 2022. We , his family, cannot thank them enough for the honor they bestowed on my husband. He would have been very proud, as he was a very patriotic and proud veteran. The precision and military discipline presented were remarkable and breathtaking. Thank you again for this beautiful program. We are eternally grateful.

My Dad was a hilarious man, a true raconteur and unofficial comic…so I’m gonna keep it funny just like he would have wanted.
Although this was a tragic day, in the middle of a pandemic, I must say that my late Father Harry would have loved his own Last Salute. I can hear him now as he would first have taken a swig of his favorite Budwieser Beer in the bottle ….. “Ahhhhh….Amy….THAT was NEAT!”
I can’t thank this organization enough for what they do for all of us in the worst times of our lives. This amazing ceremony was the most deeply profound, and humbling experience of my life. Thank you.

Hi, I am an American writer living in Lithuania . I am researching WWII information for a book I am doing on a British Spy , Eileen Burgoyne. Eileen was with CSDC after the war and aided in interpreting for German POW’s . Wes was assigned to stay in Germany as a part of the occupation forces until 1947. He was a part of the US group of allied forces cleaning up German records of German officers held captive for various reasons. He met a German woman Heidi [ Maiden name unknown]. She was familiar with Eileen\s work at CSDIC in Bad Nenndorf, Ger. In late December 1947, Wes was released back to the states. He arranged for Heidi to follow him shortly. They were married in the US on Christmas Eve 1947. If you have any information on his wife Heidi who died in the mid to late 1950’s, it would help me fill in key parts of the novel. She was a fashion designer and entertainer in Germany, and started Jay Dash Modeling and Dance Studios in Philadelphia in 1947-48. Thanks in advance, Will

My Brother in Law, Col. John R Dinardo, a 30 year VET, retired Army Reserve Colonel had his funeral yesterday. All he would tell me is that he wanted a proper military funeral. The funeral home Director told me about Last Salute and we made the arrangements. They did an absolutely wonderful send off to someone that was dear to me and all I can say is that he would be proud and was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Chuck from last salute helped with the dress code and ribbons and medals were correctly worn and made sure that everything was proper and dignified. Last salute should be proud that they do such an honorable task at the end of all these hero’s lives.
Thank you so much!

Chris, thank you so much for the kind words. We only wish that we could have done more. Most of the uniform prep was done by one of our Army volunteer members, Frank Cepeda. Nothing is more important to us than to recognize and honor the dedicated service of heroes like your brother-in-law.

Thank you so much. It was absolutely outstanding. This meant more to our family than I can ever describe in words. My father dedicated 27 years of his life to service in the U.S. Army that he loved so much, and to know that there is an organization such as Last Salute who volunteer their time to show appreciation for his service is incredible. It was truly an outstanding ceremony from brothers and sisters for a brother. My father would certainly have appreciated this tribute, which was so heartfelt and professionally executed! Thank you so much!

I want to say a heartfelt “thank you” to those who performed the Last Salute for my grandfather, Robert Hayden on June 12th.
After a long period of waiting through the pandemic to honor him after he passed, his memorial was a sincere tribute to his life of service. And the services you provided for his memorial were thoughtful and appreciated. So many of our family and friends have since told us how touching and profound the service was, and as his only granddaughter (along with his beloved great-grandson), I was honored to witness it. I will treasure the photos that were taken as well – they are a beautiful memory.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and thank you for all you do.
With blessings,
Sarah Patro, Bob Hayden’s granddaughter
