VFW 100th Anniversary Parade – Last Salute Take 1st Place

Last Salute was excited to win first place at the recent 100th anniversary parade for the VFW. Along with VFW Post 9462 of Absecon NJ, Last Salute impressed the judges with a complete demonstration of the military funeral ceremony which it performs over 100 times a year for our nation’s heroes.

2019 Annual Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation event

Medal of Honor recipient Brian Thacker fores Last Salute’s cannon

The 2019 Annual Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation event took place at multiple locations throughout Atlantic County. This great organization provides $30,000 scholarships to the children of fallen Marines and law enforcement personnel.

Last Salute, the official Military Funeral Honor Guard of Galloway NJ, Tuckerton NJ and Atlantic City NJ, supports the mission of this great organization every year by providing equipment and personnel to assist with the numerous events over the 3 days they are in Atlantic County.

The Saturday gala at the Tropicana included many dignitaries including Medal of Honor recipients and many dignataries. A number of police officers were honored as well as other national heroes.

On Sunday, the Absecon VFW Post hosted a private BBQ lunch for the Medal of Honor recipients where additional MOH signatures were added to Last Salute’s Honor Guard Humvees.

On Monday, the Atlantic City Country Club hosted the annual golf outing for the event. Despite the threat of rain, turnout was good and the foundation raised money for scholarships.

As always, Last Salute is honored to support MCLEF and extremely honored to have Medal of Honor recipients support Last Salute’s mission to provide professional and elaborate military funeral honor ceremonies at no charge to local veterans and active duty personnel. Last Salute conducted well more than 100 funerals in 2017, 2018 and more than 60 so far in 2019.

Korean War Memorial ceremony

Each year Last Salute conducts a Memorial Day ceremony at the New Jersey Korean War Memorial in Atlantic City to honor the many Americans lost in the Korean War.

Atlantic City Memorial Day

Years ago, John Palmentieri began a Memorial Day ceremony event which was to be conducted each year on the day which is actually Memorial Day. As so many things in our country are done, Memorial Day is celebrated on a Monday each year so that everyone has a 3 day weekend. John Palmentieri felt that there must be a service on the actual day so he organized an annual ceremony for that day in Atlantic City.

We lost John in 2018. His memory and commitment continues with this annual ceremony. Last Salute was honored to participate this year.

We would also like to thank Jim Keyser and the Atlantic City chapter of Disabled American Veterans for their support of Last Salute and its mission to provide professional and elaborate military funeral ceremonies for area veterans.

Memorial Day Parade 2019

Last Salute and VFW 9462 lead the Absecon NJ Memorial Day parade each year and conduct the memorial ceremony immediately after at the Absecon Veterans Memorial. Honoring the memory of those who died for our country is the most important mission we conduct each year.

We must never forget those who gave all for us.
